ABS
filament
A strong
engineering plastic with excellent heat resistance.
Printing temperature: 230–260°C
Table temperature: 90–110°C
Softening temperature: ~105°C
Hygroscopicity: medium — requires drying before
printing
Recommended drying: 4–6 hours at 70°C
Storage conditions: in a sealed container with a
desiccant
Advantages:
• High
mechanical strength and impact resistance
•
Heat-resistant (does not deform when heated to 100°C)
• Easy to
process (sand, glue, paint)
• Can be
glued with acetone and create a smooth surface
Disadvantages:
• Tendency
to deform when cooling (shrinkage)
• Vapor
release during printing — ventilation required
• Worse
adhesion to the platform without Kapton or glue
Applications:
•
Electronics housings
•
Automotive parts
• Toys and
functional prototypes
• Handles,
fasteners, tools
•
Mechanical parts with increased load
